How Long Have You Been Breeding?

Great question! This will be our first year breeding cats (2023). However, I used to foster cats & kittens for years. Breeding animals is my number 1 passion, as I breed rabbits as well. I love raising the babies, and seeing them thrive in their new homes. It brings the upmost joy to me. More breeding adventures to come within the next 5 years!

Where is Omen Maine Coons Located?

We are located in Edinburg, TX. Deep deep south TX!

Why are Maine Coons Expensive?

They are a luxury breed, just like any luxury brand. You are paying for quality, bloodline, temperament, and health. The supply of high quality MC kittens are rather low in the US. After all, breeding cats takes time, and a female can only have so many kittens at once. This high demand and low supply ultimately drives up prices. Importing breeding cats, buying supplies, caring for them, health testing, vetting, etc. takes a lot of time, commitment, and money. Your Omen Coon kitten will be very worth it.

What do you feed your Maine Coons?

Our adults are mostly (90%) fed homemade raw and various high quality brand wet foods (Weruva, Tiki Cat, Instinct, Nulo),  it's very important to feed moisture rich foods to cats. The other 10% is we leave out dry food Nulo Turkey & Duck for whenever they'd like due to how much Maine Coons need to eat.

Our kittens are mostly (90%) fed wet food with same brands mentioned above, some dry food (in case future owners would like to continue dry), and they might get some of moms raw food if they so chose. Before they go home they will be on a feeding schedule of 3/4 times a day.

We also use supplements called Kitty Bloom, and Kitty Bloom Super Lysine. They are super shiny, healthy, no smelly stool, etc. We love this brand!

Will your kittens come socialized?

Of course! We start socializing/desensitization any chance we get, to aid in a wonderful kitten ready to conquer the world! Keep in mind, we put in the work with them, that doesn’t mean socializing stops when you take a kitten home. We kickstart everything, but you as the new family - also have to continue socializing. As kittens, it is very crucial to continue their training, as it is THE key moment in their life to learn good habits!

Do your kittens come spayed/neutered?

Unfortunately no. I believe they need to grow some more before going through with it, I do not early spay/neuter. However, I 100% believe in spaying and neutering, it’s very critical to control the population & not to breed pet quality cats. I do not take this lightly. 6 months is what I recommend, and there is a contract I have everyone sign to guarantee a pet home ONLY kitten will be spayed/neutered. Furthermore, once you spay/neuter I will release their pedigree papers to you (no extra cost), and we also reimburse 50% of the total spay/neuter cost!

How long does it take for a Maine Coons mane to come in?

They will get a lot of it by a year old, but some don’t come right away. Maine Coons grow until between 18-24 months of age, and at that time is the size and length they will be, but won’t get much bigger after that age. They start their full coat growth, muscle growth, and will reach full maturity at 3 1/2/4 years of age. It also depends on what you feed and what bloodlines your Maine Coon has! Some bloodlines take longer to mature, and some are very quick.

Do you ever rehome adults/retirees?

Yes! They are my world, I love them to pieces, and basically own my home haha. But as a breeder, I’m incredibly picky on if a cat will continue being a breeder or not at all. This is not to make money for me, this is to better this wonderful breed. So I can have retirees available that have only had one litter from me, multiple litters, or even none at all. So please keep that in mind if you see that I have new cats here and there. If I can keep every retiree (spayed/neutered kitty), I so would!! However, that would also defeat the purpose to give people the opportunity to get a pedigreed, well bred MCO at a lower price due to their age/pet home!

What do I need in order to Purchase as a Breeder?

After sending in your application (there's a breeder info section), I would love to chat and get to know you and your cats better! You also must be a registered cattery and have an ID number with your affiliated registry club, as well as have a membership with said club if its needed.
